Dutchman flaps and takes off!

After 8 months of hard work, research and testing it all payed off. Jarno Smeets, a mechanical engineer from the Netherlands, fascinated by new technology, robotics, aerodynamics put his skills to the test and built a bird suit. After months of planning putting together sketches and filling orders for new equipment you start to see the development of his bird suit . On his youtube page http://www.youtube.com/user/jarnosmeets80?feature=watch  is a timeline of his development of how he achieved this great accomplishment.   Made of Nylon wings powered by electric motors, rigging up two motors and gear boxes to achieve the fly patterns of a normal bird he created lift off!

In this video below he shows just how his bird suit will take off by a video of animation, made with the program maya. A 3d visualization of his "Human Birdwings design" as he calls it. It explains the idea and design behind the wings that he will be building coming months for himself. Check out his home web page to stay current with his recent progress and new updates http://www.humanbirdwings.net/
