Manatee flash mob surprises Florida beach-goers

Move aside spring breakers, these manatees are ready to hit the beach! Florida sun-worshippers found themselves sharing the water at a Fort Lauderdale beach with a group of the playful sea cows, who didn’t let the crowd of humans stop them from frolicking. Caught on tape by beachgoer Craig Hossack, the small herd of manatees spent what witnesses say was at least half an hour swimming and splashing each other close to the shore. Some seemed surprised by the dark shadows moving in the water and fled for the sand, while others screamed excitedly. Some even reached down to pet the animals. The manatees, known as gentle animals, appear playful and friendly, rolling around on top of each other and splashing onlookers. At one point the group of five seem to tire and take a rest, calmly lying on each other in the water.
